Canada has started
a program called the Billy Brings his
Buddies program. This program is a part of the Canadian Centre for Child
Protection’s Kids in the Know
interactive child personal safety program for students from Kindergarten to
Grade Nine. The Billy initiative is for Grade One students, and it includes a
website billybuddy.ca where parents and educators can access online storybooks,
interactive games, and other fun activities to assist them teach the young
children about the buddy system.
Apart from that,
teachers can also download a free copy of the Billy Brings his Buddies Grade
One Teacher Kit, which includes a lesson plan for the classroom as well as
at-home activities to send home to parents so that parents can complete it with
their child.
Let us look at how Billy Brings his Buddies program works.
Plus, there is
also Canadian Teacher Magazine to inform about current trends in education, instructional
strategies, classroom management, professional and personal development, and
new Canadian teaching resources.
I think this is a really good program as students can learn about their safety and learn English language as well.
I love the downloadable lesson plan part very much,This will really makes teacher's work easier.Plus, this learning process is way fun than the traditional learning where teacher writes on the board and students copy.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Mufidah. I think lessons in the form of interactive games like this make students understand more as they themselves experience the learning process. This is almost similar with the TV show Dora the Explorer, students can decide on their own and see the results of their decision. This makes them learn from their own mistakes and improve themselves.
