FANTASTIC LEGO

assalamualaikum :)
hi everyone. you guys have a great weekend, haven't you?

i was pretty excited to upload something on this blog, but i didn't really have any ideas what to write about. i went google on current trend in classroom teaching that i came up with one website http://www.teaching.com.au/, more and less like a shopping site of modern teaching aids.

guess what attracted me :

LEGO NXT ROBOTICS!
http://www.teaching.com.au/catalogue?catalogue=MTA&category=MTA-MINDSTORMS-NXT

roughly, LEGO Education Mindstorms NXT Robotics are designed to bring Science, Technology and Maths live in the classroom. students can design, control and program the robots according to their own ways by combining the robotic sets and the software.

do we have this in Malaysia? don't you think it is fantastic to have this in classroom? teacher's job gets easier and the students can learn while having fun. i'm not sure how this robotic sets can bring Maths into learning, but you must be agreed that this sets are so educational in Science and Technology. this tool gives freedom for students to explore their imagination, using their own creativity without feel restricted. we know that we learn better when we do it right, so do the children. yet, the learn even better than us.

just to share, my nine-years-old little brother loves lego so much that he still keep his has-been-years lego sets like they are newly bought. the most exciting part, he can build up many things like cars, buildings, also castle in variety design even better than we older people do, using the same and very basic lego blocks.

my brother's work. children are creative, aren't they?

if you can see the whole view, it's just amazing.

see how it works? i believe, with this kind of method, adapting an exciting way in classroom teaching and learning can produce many brilliant engineers, scientists to the society lead to a creative and innovative generation. what say you? feel free to add up or comment something :)

  2. yes, we have legoland. weee! *proud. looking forward to visit. back to the root, do we have lego robotic sets as learning tools in our malaysian classroom? i'm searching the answer. we do have lego in kindergarden, during leisure time, where kids can play together freely during recess hour. right? i've experienced it. a boy had thrown a piece of the lego on my forehead and it got swollen. dang! i'm not sure about present, does it still exist or not.

anyway, does anyone have ideas how we can use lego in teaching language later on? *wink!

  6. this sounds really cool! its amazing how these tiny little blocks can just turn out from nothing to something when somebody builds just from pure imagination and creativity. Still baffles me how the brain works.anyways, i think we should explore this method more as we can actually shift from the conventional learning method to the new innovative one as kids nowadays are just getting smarter!

  7. When I was a kid, I didn't have any lego set. I played it only at my cousin's or friends' house. What my father bought for me was Barbie doll. Do you guys think that's good for children?
